Each time you make a word of at least 4 letters or a bonus word, your opponent will receive one or more rows with letters.
In your screen the avatar picture of your opponent will briefly appear to show where he / she is at. So pay attention when you make a word!
The Elo-rating system is being used, like in Chess, sports and some videogames. Read more about the Elo-rating at Wikipedia.
Each language has it's own rating, due to the differences in alphabets and points.
When you select a word of 4 letters or more you receive a multiplier on your score. So when selecting the word "GAME" this counts for 2+1+3+1 = 7 x 2 = 14 points. In multiplayer your opponent will then receive an extra row with 2 letters.
Bonuswords are little assignments you will get. They will be announced regularly with a scroll message on top of the screen and can be looked up in the chat. A bonusword will give an extra multiplier. If the bonusword would have been "GAME" a bonusmultiplier would have been applied of 2x, so the total score would become 7 x 2 x 2 = 28 points. And an opponent would receive an extra row with 4 letters.
Each time a row drops, time goes a little bit faster. This is represented by the white bar at the bottom of the screen. When a score of 1.000 points has been reached, a time bonus of 25% is applied. So the time before the next line drops will be 25% slower.
Time bonuses are applied at 1.000, 2.500, 5.000, then 10.000, 15.000 etc.
Sometimes the Facebook app does not respond well, I am not sure that it is WordnRoll which causes this problem.
Just close WordnRoll and Facebook hard, restart it and try again.
Currently this is possible by using Facebook login. Your Facebook photo will be used, unless you pick another avatar.
By logging out and in again with Facebook the avatar gets reset to the Facebook photo.
Other players can click on your photo to see an enlarged version of it.
In the lobby click on your friend's name and you can see under the stats when he / she was last time in the lobby.
If a player reaches the top of the screen (or the fence line when playing against an iPhone4) the game is over. There are some strategies you could use. One way would be to save up some words you could play and when you're able to play a bonusword, play the saved words as well, so your opponent will go up multiple lines!
Bear with me please. The game has been released summer 2013, so it's a brand new game. As an independent developer I do not have any budget to do a big marketing. Please share the game on Facebook and Twitter and tell your friends to install the game, so we get a nice gaming community! Also plz rate the game in the app store, this helps very much. Thanks
If you have an iPhone 5 and play against an iPhone 4, an older iPod or an iPad, you will get this fence line.
This is because an iPhone 5 has a larger display and would allow for 2 extra rows compared to the iPhone 4.
So it would not be fair.

If you know any good open source dictionaries for other languages please contact me so I can add more languages.
Great, I'd love to hear your review in the appstore. If you are happy please rate the game, so we get more users to play against!
I put a lot of effort in developing this game and the gameserver which connects players together. I do not represent a big game company so there might be bugs or other bad stuff. Please do not give bad ratings but contact me or go to Getsatisfaction to help improve.
Make sure you have enabled your device to receive notifications. Go in your iPhone / iPad / iPod to Settings, Notifications, WordnRoll.
If you use more than 1 device with 1 account, logout and login again on the device you like to receive the invite, than close down the app hard and restart the app. The device will than register again for receiving push messages on your account.
Best is to allways use 1 account for 1 device.
Push messages are sent by Apple's Push Notification service, so that's beyond my power. Normally invites takes a couple seconds, but it could take up to several minutes.
Sorry it seemed you have found a bug. Please use the contactform and describe the conditions and steps which lead to the bug and I will try to fix it for the next update. Close down the app hard and start again.
WordnRoll has been designed and developed by me, Jack Van der Post. I live in The Netherlands and I am a webdeveloper who worked a lot with TYPO3.
I got bored of turn based Word games and decided to make a realtime multiplayer game. So in 2012 I typed in a search engine, howto develop an iPhone game. And a year later WordnRoll got published.
If you have found bugs, questions or proposals to improve the gameplay of WordnRoll, please use the the contact form and you will get a reaction very soon.
